Problems with the rear axle has Ford recalling 575 thousand Windstar vans in Canada and the United States. Ford says corrosion may cause the axle to fracture on 1998 to 2003 models. A design flaw allows road salt slush to collect in the axle leading to rust. There have been two minor crashes in the U.S. as a result. Owners will be contacted to make arrangements to have the axle inspected.
