The lack of snow and ice has been wreaking havoc with winter events and activities. Snowerama in Clearview Township, which raises money for Easter Seals, has been postponed this weekend - pushed off until mid-February. We mentioned this week the Pond Hockey Championship at Deerhurst had to be cancelled due to thin ice. Sledders and ice fishers are still grumbling.
Unaffected by the lack of snow is this weekend’s Royal Distributing Cup National Snowmobile Races at Georgian Downs. You may have seen the dumptrucks filled with snow pulling into the track this week - 400-500 of them. It's the 18th year for the event in Barrie. There are 40 classes of racers, some as young as four. For more details, click here. And the 25th Annual MASH Bash runs all day at Snow Valley Resort, starting at 9 o’clock this morning. There is snow tubing, bedpan races (Ozz from the Rock 95 Morning Crew is the defending champ!), live entertainment and all-day lift tickets for only 20 dollars. All the money raised is going to the RVH Expansion and Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre. Click here for more information.
