Careful, what you use to get rid of the insect nests around your house. A homeowner on Blueberry Lane in Barrie accidentally set his house on fire last night while trying to get rid of a bee's nest. It was the second such incident in recent weeks, says Deptuy Fire Chief Rick Monkman. An off-duty police officer and a retired firefighter used a garden hose and a fire extinguisher to put the flames out. Monkman reminding everyone that use of fire to get rid of insect nests is not recommended. And remember, too, that many of the sprays you can get to deal with the critters are flammable so using them near open flame or lit cigarettes is not wise.
