Even though it's felt more like Spring over the last couple of months it's the weekend to celebrate the Winter season. There are a number of Winterfest celebrations in the region this weekend including Barrie, Midland, New Lowell and Port Carling.
Barrie's Winterfest has been named to the Top 100 Festivals in Ontario and last year more than 25,000 people came out to enjoy the weekend activities on Barrie's waterfront.
This year, with the amazingly mild winter we've had, Barrie's Winterfest faces some challenges, like the dog sled race which will be a last minute decision pending conditions and there's some question about the annual polar bear dip because of the thin ice but for the most part, the celebration is on and will continue despite the conditions.
Get out and enjoy winter in your community this weekend!
