Nothing is the same anymore...mp3's, computers, mobile devices, Facebook, Twitter and a myriad of other social media and techie opportunities mean the end of privacy for all of us.
There are cameras EVERYWHERE. As soon as I walk into work there's a camera on me. If I walk down the street, use an ATM, shop, get gas...anything!
We all possess the ability to record audio and video on our smart phones.
I was at Ozz's wedding Saturday and it occurred to me (as I video taped the vows) that the bride and groom no longer have any control over what is recorded and then SHARED instantaneously. With the world.
I have a friend who has an old CD of voicemails. An ex of hers embarrassing himself in a big bad way leaving messages for his special "friend" while his wife (who used to be his special friend) is out of the room etc. She only keeps it for her own amusement...but now fantasizes about uploading it as they battle on over their issues. I understand her temptation...but my god! The ugliness that would ensue! Comedic as it may be...
It's just so easy for anybody to invade your privacy now.
While watching 60 Minutes this past Sunday there was an item about the unemployed and how hard it is to search for/secure a job these days. The man leading a seminar tore up a resume and said it was near obsolete...instead...what comes up when you are googled? If nothing...you are irrelevant. If something...it better be in good taste and good for your professional image.
All things we have to think about now!
