TO SPANK OR NOT TO SPANK

It's baaaack!  The debate on spanking is in the news today.  This issue is a divisive one...as a parent though I have to say I could count on one hand how many times I spanked my two kids when they were young.  And they turned out well...neither of them with any violent tendencies whatsoever.  Is their non-spanked childhood part of that?  Don't know...but it must've helped. 

Having said that, I was treated to a hair brush or the wooden spoon on my arse more than once.  Always for being "lippy."  Go figure.  It was a different time. 

I really believe that using violence - hitting - to teach is not a good or effective use of the brain (or hand.)   Makes no sense...right up there with parents who smoke but tell their kids not to smoke.
