TIM SUSAN and OZZ...THE ROCK95 MORNING CREW
Go Back

Increasingly, people are rebeling against modern "conveniences" like social media, and/or being tethered to a smart phone which means you never actually leave work.
I know several people who have shut down their Facebook accounts. Or a few who even (gasp!) DO NOT OWN cell phones.
I recently spent a week at home recovering from some surgery. No work. Very little social media. Didn't care what emails hit my iPhone. It was glorious.
I felt as though I'd stepped off of a crazy midway ride and it was great. While I am not addicted to FB as many people seem to be...status updates so banal you wonder what's happened to reason, I do give it some time. It is actually part of my job now...and ever increasing in quantity at that.
And now today word that it is highly likely Mr. Zuckerberg will file papers this morning offering FB up on Wall Street. It's reported to be valued at between 75 and 100 BILLION dollars. And the product: personal data. Yours and mine. Kind of disturbing.
Makes me want even more to bow out of that particular rat race.
Or is FB just reflective of the times and harmless?
Hmmm...maybe that's my next status update. Wonder how many "likes" it will fetch...
